TESTIMONIALS

“When you change the way you view birth, the way you give birth will change.”

Here are just a few testimonials from some of my clients:

I was sceptical of Hypnobirthing until I witnessed my friend giving birth and she had just completed her HypnoBirthing course. Her labour was so quick and she was so calm that she fooled the midwives. When they realised she was in full active labour they had to spring into action!  Her baby wasn’t born to screaming and crying – her baby was calm. I wanted that same experience! So I also took the HB course and I can proudly say that I too had a calm birth, my labour was 5 hours long and my HB knowledge gave me the confidence to give birth without medicine or intervention. I cannot recommend Hypnobirthing enough, it truly is amazing.

I loved the visualisation exercises; however I kept finding that they relaxed me to the point of falling asleep. Ruby kept reminding me that this meant that they were working as I was fully relaxed-  even though it made sense I have to admit I was still questioning whether Hypnobirthing was working on me. When I finally went into labour I used these visualisations with the help of my husband to calm myself down and get in control and from then on I was able to manage the pain of the birth. I’m quite a panicky person and the thought of childbirth has always scared me (and my husband!), but we were pleased with how calm we both were throughout the process and we have HypnoBirthing to thank for that.

The breathing techniques you learn through Hypnobirthing alone make it worthwhile. These techniques allow you to ‘ride’ the wave get of your contractions (surges) working with your body to bring your baby to you faster than if you tensed up.

I took this Hypnobirthing course and I approached the birth of my daughter with confidence, however shortly before the birth I had a small accident that led to a complication which meant I had to deviate from my birth plan. I had to be monitored throughout my labour and then I was told that I would need to have a c-section. The fantastic thing was, that my Hypnobirthing teaching gave me control in a situation where I would have normally been so scared. The connection I had with my body and my baby allowed me to calmly face the ups and downs of my daughter’s birth and for that I am very grateful.

On my birthing day my waters released in the evening, followed shortly by soft waves. I felt calm and in control, I bathed and even took a walk before I went to the hospital. I was nervous but enjoying what was happening, I was going to meet my baby for the very first time. I breathed correctly, used the birthing ball and my husband used the light touch massage methods we had learnt, we stayed at home for as long as possible before travelling to the hospital. The staff informed me I had dilated 5cm but they were shocked as I was quite content and making little fuss, I just wanted to walk around and stay standing. I asked for the pool to be filled, and 20mins after stepping in to it my baby boy was in my arms. He was happy, healthy and so calm. The experience was amazing and exactly how I pictured it, we were ecstatic.

Just over a year later my second baby was on its way. I woke at 4am with twinges which I recognised to be waves. I immediately went in to the mindset which I had practised the previous year. I was relaxed once again and knew how my birth was going to go. With a small baby already, I had less time to run through and practice the techniques I had done almost religiously before. Surprisingly, I found that they were still very much ingrained in my mind. This time however, I had the confidence to opt for a homebirth which completed our idea of the perfect birthing day. I had two supporting midwives who respected my wishes of no intervention, a quiet atmosphere, and to let my body go at its own pace. My waters this time would not release, but I knew with time this would happen, so spent longer in the pool but remained calm and let my body do the work. Soon after my daughter was born into the same calm atmosphere which I had experienced before, but this time in my own home and with my son present. It was an amazing day I will never forget it. Again I felt full of life, my baby was healthy and I have nothing but fond memories of both of my birthing experiences.

I chose hypnobirthing as it was a method that had intrigued me. I worked in a highly pressured and stressful banking environment, and it was very important for me to feel and be in control; as this was my main fear. I knew if I put the hypnobirthing philosophy into practice I would combat this. I can truly say that after this experience my whole attitude is different. My outlook altogether has changed not just with my births but also with day to day life. I can not recommend hypnobrithing enough, it's had such a positive impact on the life of my family and I.
